Turning Recorded Audio and Video Content into Products
By
The most important part of being an online entrepreneur is not your ability to leverage marketing forms. It is not your ability to pitch and sell. It is your ability to identify — and if necessary, create — a product that has the ability to truly go viral, and spread itself all around the internet. There is a huge surplus of marketers out there — thousands of online marketers competing to sell hundreds of products — but there is a continual drought of products that really excite people.
As an online entrepreneur, your job is to create and market those products. What is strangest about the online world is that the potentially massive product creators — those with thousands of ideas, and hundreds of potentially lucrative products — are often the last people to put their ideas into practice. The talented are always mired by self-doubt, and as a result hundreds of potentially brilliant products never end up seeing the light of day.
Two excellent resources for product creation are audio and video. Look around any online marketing website and you will see thousands of one thing: eBooks. While some are high quality, most are not, and the vast majority are uninspiring, uninteresting, and in any other format, completely unpublishable. By leveraging video and audio content, you can take over the sea of eBooks, and deliver products that sell in massive quantities, all the while maintaining an ultra-high level of customer satisfaction.
How can you incorporate audio into your product offerings?
In an online world, visual media is the best choice for how-to products. However, if your product is aimed at the busy professional market (say, for example, a forex business kit) the addition of audio content could make it easier for customers to absorb the information while on the go. A lot of professionals are constantly short on time, and the expectation that they will be able to read a 50-page eBook is quickly becoming less and less realistic. If you strategically incorporate audio content into your products, you open yourself up to a market with high potential and a lot of spending power.
How video content can set you apart:
When the entire market is dominated by products that are good, but decisively not great, you can go along way by rising above and beyond. The world of online products is packed with text-only content, particularly text-only ‘how to’ content. The problem with text is that it is not dynamic, it is not particularly user-friendly, and that it is difficult to incorporate into a truly useful how-to products.
If you are creating an instructional product, incorporating video into your design gives you a whole new educational angle, and another promotional angle. Use samples of your video content to market your product, offer small video previews to an exclusive mailing list, and even serve up samples on YouTube to build backlinks and word-of-mouth buzz.
Audio and video content are not just another way to design products, they are an entirely new wave of promotion and marketing too. An oft-repeated idea amongst marketers is to design your product with marketing in mind. Whenever you create a product built on video and audio, you create new ways to market your product. Leverage the difference between you and your competitors, use video to inspire and captivate potential customers, and stand above the rest of the market.
Here’s a thought. Why not create a membership site using Wordpress and the WishList Member plugin to deliver your audio and video products, either as protected product downloads or streamed directly within the protection of the membership site. It’s very easy to set this up and is an extremely affordable content delivery option.
One great idea is to create a small promotional sampling of each of your videos or audios that are available to the public, with the option for visitors to subscribe to your membership in order get the full media content.
