Tips from an SEO Support VA: How to Ensure Continued Search Engine Optimization Success
ByWould you like a few tips from an SEO Support VA?
One of the greatest strengths of internet business is the near complete lack of startup costs. While brick-and-mortar business can command thousands, sometimes hundreds of thousands, of dollars in startup costs and overheads, an online business can be launched for under $100.
However, there is a hidden currency to online business that often goes ignored: opportunity cost. When you invest in endless SEO campaigns to go nowhere, you are taking time away from potentially more lucrative activities. While SEO is often touted as the ultimate form of traffic — it is 100% free, and significantly more valuable than non-targeted visitors — it can often be an expensive activity in terms of lost income. Now is the time to start looking into a virtual assistant offering website seo services. A Search Engine Optimization VA (aka SEO Assistant) is just the ticket.
Of course, when SEO is successful, it is more than worth the time. Avoiding the SEO traps is one of the most important parts of being a good search engine marketer. These steps, strategies, and tips will help you spend your time effectively and avoid potential problems on your SEO campaign:
1) Build your plan according to your opponents’ power:
Search engine rankings are not determined by the total SEO power of each website, but by the relative power. While an authority website may rank first for one term, it is not uncommon to find ultra-simple small websites that rank first for another. SEO is not necessarily about building the most powerful website on the block, but about building the most effective one against your opponents.
For an effective SEO campaign, you need to know exactly how powerful your competitors are before you begin. Look through your opponents’ websites in Yahoo Site Explorer and take note of how many backlinks they have. Look at their supporting links for SEO ideas and strategic advantages. If they are drawing all of their link power from free article directories, shape your campaign to beat them at their own game. If their power comes from authority websites, determine how many links you will need to generate to overthrow them.
2) Plan a total strategy, not just temporary measures.
Here is a common situation: you outrank your opponents, but months down the line you find your website falling and your opponents overtaking you.
This situation is caused by a failure to look at the total SEO strategy. Rather than looking at how competitors may react to your SEO campaign, the campaign was structured as a static exercise. While this type of planning is good for short-term ranking and temporary traffic, it is quickly beaten when your opponents catch on to what you are doing.
Rankings are not static. When one player succeeds, another loses their place, and a vicious competition for the top spot begins. Thus, when you take the top spot, you have got to be prepared to fight onwards to maintain it. Plan for your opponent’s future moves when you are optimizing your website, and keep a continuing strategy so that you are always defending the top spot, never challenging someone else for it.
3) SEO traffic is long-term. Is your strategy long-term as well?
Remember, the greatest SEO success will always come with a long-term strategy that’s tailored to your competition. Treat SEO like you would a sports game — continually adapt to your opponent, do not just score a point and then stop. If your strategy is built of temporary measures, now might just be the time to stop and restructure it.
Tip for increasing your productivity: Hire an SEO Assistant. Did you know that I am a search engine optimization VA to use when you need website SEO services? Having an SEO Support VA in your corner is a great way to getting you into higher positions in Google, Yahoo, and Bing search engines.

Hi Ken,
Thanks for contributing your comment, however… I have to disagree with you. While link building is of the utmost importance, it should be done as an ongoing strategy from the very beginning. On-page SEO makes your site search engine friendly and allows people looking for your services and products easier to find you in the search results pages. Done correctly and given the proper thought it deserves, on-page SEO can be something you do first, and then come back to if needed for minor tweaking.
Off-page SEO strategies, such as link building, should be started when you do your keyword research and SEO competition research, and then done as an ongoing strategy action.
